Course Description

The incidence of road crashes continues to rise at an alarming rate, and is now a leading cause of death and serious injury among young adults in middle-income countries. Economic progress alone will not automatically deliver better road safety performance, and in fact frequently accompanies a phase of increased motorization and higher exposure to injury risk. Transformational changes in the safety management of the road are therefore needed to reduce fatal and serious road crashes.
“Road Network Safety Management in Fast-Motorizing Economies” is a forum and certified workshop for road professionals aimed at delivering practical pathways to improved road safety performance through policies and measures that target recurrent road safety management and engineering weaknesses found in countries experiencing high growths in vehicle and motorcycle ownership.

Event Objectives

During the event, participants will receive the necessary theoretical background and applied practices on traffic injury risk diagnosis and reduction to ensure their programs and investments are adequately dimensioned and targeted. Using internationally accepted guidelines, participants will also be exposed to complementary aspects of safe road and roadside management, including the correct selection and application of safety equipment based on site conditions. As part of the workshops, delegates will be presented with relevant case studies, and benefit from interaction opportunities with world-class instructors.
