hideAmong other impacts, the devastating earthquake that hit Japan on March 11 2011 disrupted infrastructure and supply chains in large portions of the country. Within a month, IRF launched the IRF – Japan Road Association Relief Fund aimed at raising funds for training, research and educational grants dedicated to rebuilding Japan’s road networks. “In a time of need, the road community responded spontaneously and generously” stated IRF Washington Chairman Abdullah A. Al-Mogbel, as he presented Moriyasu Furuki from the Japan Road Association with a donation on behalf of IRF members worldwide.
The International Road Federation is a global not-for-profit organization, headquartered in Washington, DC since 1948 and supported by regional offices throughout the world. The IRF serves a network of public and private sector members in more than 70 countries by providing world-class knowledge resources, advocacy services, and continuing education programs which together offer a global marketplace for best practices and industry solutions.
