On behalf of IRF’s global volunteer leadership and members, it gives me great pleasure to thank you for joining us at the 1st IRF Europe and Central Asia Regional Congress. This Congress was a direct result of the IRF’s strategic vision to become the world’s leading industry knowledge platform to help countries everywhere progress towards safer, cleaner, more resilient and better connected transportation systems. We designed this event with the idea of providing a setting for sharing proven and innovative solutions for the region’s mobility challenges. With this Congress, our goal was to help policy-makers, planners and infrastructure operators from across Europe and Central Asia translate these challenges into concrete policy and planning decisions. Thank you for coming to Istanbul and this landmark regional event.

The average high/low for Istanbul in September is 23.6 C (74.5 F) / 16.8 C (62.2 F). September averages 7 rainy days, totaling 57.9 mm (2.28 in). (Climate information courtesy Wikipedia) Congress attire is business or business casual. Turkish society is modern and largely secular, so European dress styles prevail. For any time spent outside of the Congress, dress the same as you would to visit France, Germany, Italy or the UK. (Attire information courtesy www.turkeytravelplanner.com)

[pane title=”What type of electrical outlets and voltages does Turkey use?” background_image=””]
[column_2 width=”1/1″ last=”true” title=”” title_type=”single” animation=”none” implicit=”true”]
Turkey operates on 220 volts, 50 Hz, with round-prong European-style plugs. On your electrical device(s), look for “INPUT: A.C. 100-240V”. If it reads that way, it can operate on either 110-125 or 220-240 voltage. If it says something like “INPUT: 100-125V”, then it can’t run on Turkey’s 220-240 volts and you’ll need to bring a transformer (also called a power or voltage converter). You may also require a plug adapter to convert from the round-prong to whatever style your country uses. (Electrical information courtesy www.turkeytravelplanner.com)
