Overview
Tunnel safety has received significant attention in recent years as a result of major accidents that have led to fatalities, casualties and considerable economic damage. Due to the enclosed nature of a tunnel, the occurrence of a relatively minor incident has the potential to develop into a catastrophe as well as cause significant damage to tunnel infrastructure. In this practical workshop best-practices and the effect of existing tunnel safety measures on the safety level and management of a tunnel are discussed.
The lectures will be taught over a two-week period with live 2-hour on-line sessions held Wednesdays and Thursdays. Upon completion of the training program, the IRF will administer an on-line knowledge test. Participants with a score of 80% of the exam will be awarded with a certificate verifying their successful completion of the course.
