4th IRF Latin America Regional Congress Underlines Vital Role of Roads

Senior representatives from the World Bank, the Development Bank of Latin America and Odebrecht Latinvest joined the IRF for the opening of the 4th IRF Latin America Regional Congress by Peruvian Minister of Transport & Communications, José Gallardo Ku (pictured).

More than 800 delegates took part in this essential forum addressing shared infrastructure and mobility challenges against a backdrop of rapid growth in vehicle ownership in the continent. “The transport sector holds the key to the region’s strategy for investment, economic growth and inclusive development,” noted Jose Luis Irigoyen, Global Transport Practice Director at the World Bank in his opening address.

IRF Presents “Find a Way” Award to Chile’s National Road Safety Commission

CONASET, a multi-agency committee driving Chile’s road safety agenda, is the recipient of the IRF’s regional road safety award instituted in 2011 to recognize the value of political leadership in the UN Decade of Action 2011-2020. The committee has, among others, proposed legislation on drunk driving and high-visibility clothing for car occupants. The award was presented during the 4th IRF Latin America Regional Congress in Lima, Peru.
