IRF presents ITS award to Delcan, Translink and Transport Canada
IRF honored and recognized the 2009 GRAA winner of the Traffic Management and ITS category Delcan at a special function held at Delcan’s headquarters in Vancouver on Thursday, April 29. IRF’s executive vice president, Gabriel Sanchez, presented awards to Delcan and their clients Translink (the local metro transport agency) and Transport Canada for the project iMove – Metro Vancouver’s New Integrated Multi-Modal Web Portal for Traveller Information.
“We are very proud of the iMove project, not just as a great accomplishment for our company, but for the overall satisfaction of our clients Translink and Transport Canada,” said Jim Kerr, chairman and CEO, Delcan. “And we are particularly proud to have this opportunity to acknowledge that a success like this comes from the collaborative work of a great team. IRF provided us a great platform to recognize our clients, Translink and Transport Canada, to ensure they received the credit they deserved for their vision and the trust they have placed in the Delcan team throughout the project.”

The Traffic Management and ITS award recognizes this project for making significant achievements in making the most of existing infrastructure to accommodate present and future traffic, by using advanced or original traffic management concepts, organizations and systems.
“Many adjectives have been used to describe iMove: innovative, creative, advanced, effective,” said Sanchez. “But one word came to my mind when I was reading the project description, including the way the modes interact and the integration of all the elements – that word is elegant. For me, iMove is a very elegant technical solution, to a series of highly complex mobility challenges.”
