IRF Sets US $4 Million Target for Educational Scholarships
February 11, 2015
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ALEXANDRIA, VA — For the past 65 years, the IRF Fellowship Program has helped change the lives of 1,371 women and men in 117 countries. Through educational scholarships and a ten-day road scholar program, these professionals have continued their education in areas related to transportation and greatly contributed to raising transport standards and quality of life in their home countries.
The IRF Fellowship Program sends an important signal to countries around the world about the importance of transportation as an engine of economic growth and social cohesion.
IRF Fellowships are largely funded through the generosity of corporations, governments and industry associations around the world. However, in 2013 and 2014, the IRF was unable to award all the Fellowships it wanted, and last year alone, nearly 50 percent of deserving and highly qualified applicants did not receive a Fellowship, due solely to lack of available funds.
Today, IRF Chairman Abdullah A. Al-Mogbel is setting a target to collect US $4 million in endowments in pursuit of its goal to train the next generation of transportation leaders. The IRF needs your help to make this goal a reality.
