SRD Dates Set for Costa Rica and Chile

IRF’s comprehensive road safety training, Safer Roads by Design™ now has dates set for two upcoming training sessions. San José, Costa Rica will host this IRF Certified Training Course July 16-17, 2013 and Santiago, Chile will do the same October 9-11, 2013. Register today to reserve a place.
The Safer Roads by Design™certified IRF training course is one of the most comprehensive road safety training programs in the world. This will be Costa Rica’s second consecutive year hosting the SRD training and for Chile, this will be their very first year. The 2nd Safer Roads by Design™ Across Six Continents program is an exclusive professional development courses provided by the International Road Federation.
The training program will focus on: Roadside Safety and Work Zone Safety
Roadside Safety
The course exposes to all aspects of Roadside Safety, including longitudinal barriers, crash cushions, terminals and transitions. This section of the course introduces existing products and teaches attendees the importance of using site-specific data to determine the most appropriate product for a particular application. Upon completion of the Roadside Safety training, attendees will have a clear understanding of methods used to identify dangerous roadside hazards and will learn how to correctly resolve the situation. Further discussions will include best practices and state-of-the-art technologies used to make roadsides safer.
Work Zone Safety
The training discusses Work Zone Safety in detail. Attendees will learn how to design a safe work zone and gain insight into the newest technologies in work zone safety. Among the topics discussed will be: how to use positive protection, truck mounted attenuators, dynamic variable message signs and flagger training. Upon completion of the Work Zone Safety training, attendees will be aware of the recommended procedures for safe work zone design per the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). SRD provides additional exposure to different technologies and methodologies used to make work zones safer.
